This conference is designed to empower parents and self-advocates by providing practical information, resources, and strategies to navigate special education and disability services with confidence. Attendees will learn about their rights, available supports, and effective advocacy skills through information presentations and opportunities to connect with professionals, community organizations, and other families.

There will be Parent Sessions in English and Spanish and Youth sessions, all in one place! 

The conference is FREE but registration is required. Youth ages 14 and older must register for youth-specific sessions. See flyer for registration details.

Magnolia ISD Say Boo to Barriers Resource Fair & Presentation (Supported Decision Making & Guardianship)

The "Say Boo to Barriers" Resource Fair is an excellent opportunity to visit with community partners who will have information tables and resources for attendees. The Handley Law Office will be there with a free, comprehensive 32-page resource guide for families to take home. In addition, Attorney Boyd Handley will have a presentation about Supported Decision-Making Agreements, Guardianship, and Alternatives to Guardianship. If you're wondering which option is best for your child now or in the future, this is a great presentation to attend to get expert information from the father of an adult daughter with disabilities.

 

The Arc of Fort Bend County Fall Disability Resource Fair

This annual festival features up to 50 vendors in the disability community. The event is held in conjunction with the Clements High School National Honor Society's Fall Festival for Children with Special Needs. The festival features games, crafts, and activities for children with special needs ages 5-13 with special needs and their siblings. While the children are enjoying the festival, caregivers can visit the resource fair to learn about a variety of disability resources and services in the community. Team Handley from The Handley Law Office will have an information table full of resources, including the comprehensive Special Needs Toolkit and the resource document from TEA about Waiver Programs. 

 

Katy ISD Transition Resource Night

This is KISD's annual fall resource fair with vendors from many area that support the disability community. Visit information tables from many areas like education, financial planning, legal concerns, social programs, and more. Team Handley, featuring attorney Boyd Handley, will be on hand to share resources including the 32-page Special Needs Toolkit information guide and the TEA handout regarding Waiver Programs.
